Working Together Agreements

Avoid poor communication and outline acceptable behaviours for how your team wants to work together. Work agreements are often used in the Agile context, but can be used by any team. Through the work agreement process, teams are given an increased awareness of the interaction between individuals. This meeting agenda model helps remote teams create a “working team agreement.” It is a living document that defines expectations and agreements on how a remote team will work together. Together, you develop basic guidelines for cooperation to avoid costly misunderstandings. We will treat each other and the public with respect, dignity and courtesy. We know that we may not always see things the same way, because we bring different experiences and points of view. We will be fair and constructive if we do not agree. We will listen and be polite and respectful in our exchange of views. Differences of opinion will sometimes arise, and it does not matter, because everyone can express their opinion and be heard. Let`s start with the definition: work agreements are standards or guidelines developed by a team to improve their interactions for superior performance and create a common language. In practice, these agreements define the expectations of groups, define paths of cooperation and create the atmosphere necessary for sensitive and psychologically safe work. We agree that we can work well together and make a real difference in how people think and act on mental health. Finally, you should retrospectively attribute the effectiveness of your work agreements to improve your team`s knowledge. Save often and keep in mind that agreements can always be renegotiated, especially when new members join or situations change.
