If you don`t have a job (or telecommuting), you can request up to 80 hours of paid sick leave (EPSLA). Due to the seriousness of COVID-19, employees who are not eligible for telework in WebTADS may continue to telework when mandatory telework and/or continuity of operating plans (COOP) have been implemented. To prepare for telework, you first complete the mandatory telework training in SATERN and/or other training specific to the centre. Compulsory satern training is the same: telework is also called local telework, episodic, intermittent or ad hoc, extra-programmed telework is telework, which is allowed on a case-by-case basis and is not part of a telework programme previously approved, current and regular. If you are not eligible after an interview with your supervisor, request weather and safety leave (XLV61). (See notes 10, 11 and 12) A telework agreement is a formal agreement between an employee and their supervisor, established by WebTADS, that defines the approved parameters, according to which employees can telework. Mandatory telework is a non-optional telework system that can be implemented in an emergency that disrupts or may disrupt federal government operations, including poor weather or other security-related events, such as a pandemic. You can check your status for telework authorization in WebTADS in the State section of telework. Your status for telework authorization is displayed. If you`re not ready to telecommute, talk to your supervisor to discuss your options. If you are not ready for telework, your supervisor may allow weather and safety leave (XLV61).
If possible, you can also request intermittent telework and/or request work outside of your normal mission, including off-peak work. Supervisory authorities have the power to allow XLV time limits for public servants who are unable to meet their work requirements due to on-call work due to school and/or school closures due to a coronavirus pandemic. Superiors will use this excused absence power in a manner that facilitates both telework and an employee can reasonably perform during the employee`s mission, given the employee`s particular circumstances.
